Thisinitiative is in the promotion of recognizingthe significance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, the outstanding achieving work of HBCU Chancellors/Presidents and our social mediacampaign in bringingawarenessattention of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
This Tuesday (12/1/15), we highlighted Dr. Haywood Strickland, (pictured on theright), President of Wiley College.
Dr. Haywood Strickland is the 16th president of Wiley College. Asthe President and CEO, hebringsextensivehighereducationadministration and fund-raising experience to Wiley College, wherehehopes to create a new milieu andachieveexcellence in thelife of thecollege.
Dr. Strickland is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. Hegraduated from Stillman College in History and English andearnedmaster's and Ph.D. degrees in American History fromthe University of Wisconsin, Madison. Since 1981, Dr. Strickland has been President of the Associates for Institutional Development Inc., a consulting firm specializing in higher education governance, administration, managementand evaluation. Previously, hewas Senior Program Officer, Director of Student Services Institute, Director of Trustee Management and Administration Program and Black College Development/Southern Philanthropy Program and Director of the Academic Administration Program at the United Board for College Development (UBCD).
Prior tojoiningthe UBCD, Dr. Strickland was President of Kittrell College; Director of Rural Community Assistance Consortium, Office for Advancement of Public Negro Colleges and Schools; Assistant Director of Special Studies and Assistant Executive Secretary, Commission on Colleges, Southern Association for Colleges and Schools.
Hehopes to achieve trueexcellence at Wiley College as envisioned by its foundersthrough his hands-on approach, visionaryleadership, proactive planning, and prudentfiscalpractices. Dr. Strickland is systematicallyputtingin placemechanism that promoteperformance, accountability, and institutional effectiveness through soundmanagementprinciples.
